Lay-up: Backing - Tamping

  • Gelcoat: with the application of just a thin coat, different surface characteristics can be obtained (hard to flexible, chemical resistant, polishable etc.)
  • Backing Tamping: low-cost fillers with very little resin content can be used, e.g. Quartz sand (a casting to cover the mixture may need to be applied)
