Two million boards produced by RAMPF Tooling
During October 2011 the two millionth board was produced at RAMPF Tooling. This is a further milestone in the success story of the RAMPF Group which meanwhile comprises five independent companies with a consolidated turnover of Euro 104.4 Mio and three overseas subsidiaries. The success story started with the market break-through of polyurethane boards and the set up of the first production line nearly 30 years ago. In 2006 RAMPF Tooling decided to enter the market directly and succeeded in becoming the largest board producer world-wide.

Board material collection from RAMPF Tooling
“Two million produced boards are a large quantity” comments Heinz Horbanski, Managing Director of RAMPF Tooling, happily. This number comprises styling, modeling as well as working boards that are used in various applications in the automotive, aerospace, wind energy, marine, foundry and machine industry. With the market penetration of the first “PUR-board” for modeling in 1982, the turnover of the now RAKU-TOOL® branded boards has increased steadily. In 1987 the first styling board was produced and in 1994 the first working board for jigs was developed and manufactured in Grafenberg. 1998 marked another milestone: RAMPF Tooling developed the first modeling board made from recycling polyol. With this invention RAMPF Tooling has taken a new step in the direction of a „greener” future. “Early on, RAMPF has recognized future market developments towards sustainability and set the course for research and development in this important area”, explains Heinz Horbanski. Today, the well-balanced product portfolio of boards comprises a total of 37 different products including some boards made from recycling polyol.
With the consistent trend towards CAD/CAM RAMPF Tooling continues to develop its quality board materials. Excellent, fine surface structures, improved machinability and chip formation, high mechanical properties as well as matched bonding and repair systems are all part of the world market leader’s service spectrum.
The service offer, customized products, is constantly expanded. Most board materials can be ordered in any size and can be adapted to meet the customer’s special needs and applications. In this way RAMPF Tooling supplies ready to machine castings and blocks and even customized large volume size castings of up to 10 tons. The customer can therefore fully concentrate on his strength, the machining of the casting or block.
To meet future demand for the RAKU-TOOL quality products and to be able to even better focus on individual customer needs and requests RAMPF Tooling has opened a new Innovation Center in Grafenberg in 2009. With the new building that cost eight million Euro, the company continues its technology push. With a total floor space of approx. 5.500 m2 there is now almost double the space available for laboratory and application technology.
RAMPF Tooling is also well positioned on the international stage with three subsidiaries in the USA, Japan and China as well as 17 distributors in Europe and world-wide.
“Our customers can look forward to our next milestone“, comments Heinz Horbanski.
